Remote Worship is a project that allows people to pray and worship to their favorite gods or shrines in a remote location. For example, if user would like to pray to a certain deity at a certain shrine in Japan, while they are in the US or it is not convenient to travel to the actual shrine location, he/she could use this product to make their worship or prayer, and every ritual process will be executed in that shrine in Japan by a robotic arm, connected by the global internet.

The prompt of this project is:

What if we could transfer our motions to a remote place?
How could people pray or invoke to their gods and deities without physically being in the shrine?

The idea seems to be absurd, but it is quite useful, for situations such as older people who couldn’t travel far and would like to pray, or times like 2020, people are suggested to stay in home because of the coronavirus, so it is an “unuseless product”.

The best part of this project is its telepresence nature, people could deliver their movements to a remote location by doing the similar moves with a controller in their hands.

Here is a pitch deck that I made, it has the working method, usage and design thoughts.

We made a prototype and working model based on wifi networks and micro-controllers, in theory it will work globally if we could have more budgets and supports.

Below is a prototype video.
